Dr. Lyndsey Silva is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with a passion for helping individuals who have experienced adversity and trauma. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and has extensive experience working with diverse populations, including survivors of abuse (emotional, sexual, physical, and neglect), intimate partner violence, foster care, parenting, and individuals with legal problems.
With over 2200+ hours of psychological testing experience, Dr. Silva is equipped to provide objective measures to monitor progress and ensure that her clients receive care that is proven to be effective. She specializes in conducting evaluations and assessments that provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual’s functioning.
Dr. Silva’s approach to therapy is client-centered, empathetic, and supportive. She understands that difficult life events can leave individuals feeling shame and struggling with their mental health. Her goal is to help individuals understand how their past has shaped their worldview and provide them with the tools and skills they need to reach their full potential. Dr. Silva provides a safe and non-judgmental space for her clients to work through their challenges and reduce the shame they feel.
Dr. Silva offers individual therapy for adults and teens (ages 13+) and specializes in Contextual Trauma Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Attachment Focused Therapy. She also offers parenting support, including Triple P Parenting, Parent-Child Intervention Therapy, and Barkley’s Defiant Children.
Dr. Silva’s expertise includes helping individuals mitigate the effects of intergenerational trauma, supporting individuals as they work through adversity, and implementing necessary structures to promote adaptive functioning in the family unit. She supports individuals from all orientations, identities, and backgrounds.
Dr. Silva believes that the greatest sense of happiness comes from self-acceptance and self-love. At the heart of what we all long for is a sense of health, healing, and connection. This is a passion that drives Terra, and it’s central to the support she offers. With over 20 years of experience, Terra has had the privilege of working with individuals from various cultures, abilities, and developmental stages.
Through a trauma-informed lens and respect for the individual’s unique experience, Terra is passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families, as to find their individual voice and strengthen communication while deepening relationships. Through her work with adults and adolescents, she provides guidance on a range of concerns, including identity, relationships, and life transitions. She is grounded in the belief that an individual’s truth lies within, and she creates a safe, inclusive space to explore this in order to facilitate healing and growth.
Terra holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Provisional Psychologist through the College of Alberta Psychologists. She builds strong, trusting relationships through empathy and understanding and tailors her approach to fit your needs. Terra takes an integrative therapeutic approach and is certified in EMDR and the Gottman Method.
